Quick Stop at Hug Point

Owning an Airbnb property from afar can sometimes be challenging. I've often had to make day trips to handle simple tasks. The upside is that these trips allow me to explore local hiking spots and attractions to recommend to our guests. Recently, I traveled to Nehalem Hideaway to tackle a plumbing issue. Fortunately, the task was straightforward, and I had time on my way back home to visit Hug Point. I've always wanted to stop and explore Hug Point during my drives to the house.

It was a lovely 65 degrees, sunny, with a low tide that let me fully enjoy the area's offerings. Hug Point is under 12 miles from Nehalem Hideaway, taking less than 20 minutes to drive.

The parking lot at Hug Point can fill up quickly. There's a paved path leading to stairs that give access to the beach. When I visited, a few families had set up day tents, children were playing in the water, and several others were exploring and hiking. Hug Point has many unique features, including caves, waterfalls, and intriguingly, a stagecoach trail that was used before Highway 101 was built. Always remember to check the tides and visit at low tide. Stay aware of tide changes to avoid getting stranded during your walks!
